Boeing: World’s Largest Aerospace Company Relies on Canadian Facilities
Boeing Canada is an essential part of the world’s largest aerospace firm. Established in 1919, the company employs more than 1,300 highly-skilled employees at sites across the country in support of two business units – commercial airplanes and defence, space and security. Boeing Canada generates more than $1 billion in revenues each year. Canada is also home to Boeing’s third-largest international supplier base, with quality suppliers in every region of the country.
Boeing Canada’s Winnipeg facility produces nearly 1,000 parts and assemblies for the company’s commercial jets. More than a dozen Canadian airlines operate Boeing products; Air Canada and WestJet, the country’s top two airlines, have ordered new Boeing airplanes. Boeing is also the leading contractor in the modernization of Canada’s CF-18 fighter jets.
Boeing’s presence in Canada results from the many advantages available in the country, such as a skilled workforce, relatively low cost of living, leading universities and colleges, and generous R&D tax credits.
