Innovation Drives Success of Canadian Automotive Giant Linamar

Linamar Corporation is a diversified global manufacturer of highly engineered products. The company’s Powertrain and Driveline divisions are world leaders in the collaborative design, development and manufacture of precision metallic components, modules and systems for global vehicle markets; Linamar’s Industrial division is a world leader in the design and production of innovative mobile industrial equipment, notably its class-leading aerial work platforms and telehandlers.

To support further innovation, in 2009 Linamar created the Frank Hasenfratz Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing in Guelph, Ontario.  Named in honour of Linamar's founder, the Centre is part of the company's $1.1 billion commitment to innovation. The Centre will focus on advanced tooling, fixture and gauging analysis, product testing and R&D.

With support from the federal and provincial governments, Linamar Corporation's Green and Fuel Efficient Powertrain Projects will develop and commercialize a wide range of new engines, transmissions and drivelines. The goals are greater durability, less weight and higher quality, meeting market demands for increased fuel efficiency and decreased environmental impacts. “We are thrilled with this show of support from our Federal Government for our Green Technology investments”, says Linamar CEO Linda Hasenfratz. “Investing in innovation, particularly when it is also aimed at creating products beneficial to our environment, is exactly what we need our governments to be focused on today.”
