Mechtronix: Canadian Company a World Leader in Aircrew Training Solutions
Mechtronix World Corp. is a global leader in the development and delivery of innovative aircrew training solutions for general, business and commercial aviation. Founded in 1987 as a specialist in micro-processor industrial applications, Mechtronix designed and built its first flight simulator in 1996. Since then, the company’s client list has grown to include international airlines such as Lufthansa Flight Training, American and Japan Airlines, and commercial aviation companies such as Boeing.
In 2009, Mechtronix unveiled a new R&D centre near its corporate headquarters in Montréal. The centre effectively doubles the company’s engineering and design capacity and makes the most of the many advantages available to businesses in Canada. These include a skilled workforce, low operating costs, generous R&D tax incentives and leading academic institutions. The last of these advantages has been particularly important for Mechtronix.
The company partners closely with Concordia University (the alma mater of the five company founders) and the University of Toronto, participating in numerous internship, co-op and mentoring programs, and providing curriculum assistance and donations of equipment. This participation provides engineering students access to information and opportunities, and ensures that Mechtronix has access to a steady stream of bright, talented workers.
